About us:Origins and HistoryAfter completing his second term as Mayor of New York City at the end of 2001, Rudolph W. Giuliani established the management consulting firm of Giuliani Partners with a number of senior executives who had worked with him during the administration to enhance the quality of life for New Yorkers in the 1990s. Drawing on its significant leadership experience and expertise in the areas of law enforcement, public safety, emergency preparedness, business continuity, leadership and accountability, Giuliani Partners has grown into one of the United States' most respected management consulting firms. In March 2005, Giuliani Partners established Giuliani Security & Safety LLC (GSS), a division of Giuliani Partners that focuses exclusively on issues concerning security and safety. Mayor Giuliani founded GSS with its CEO Pasquale J. D'Amuro, a 26-year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and former head of the FBI's New York Office with expertise in counterterrorism and other security and safety issues. The GSS team also includes Richard Sheirer, former Commissioner of the New York City Office of Emergency Management, Thomas Von Essen, former Commissioner of the New York City Fire Department, and others with leadership experience in the FBI and New York City's police and fire departments. The firm has quickly established itself as a leading provider of threat and vulnerability assessments, crisis management and emergency planning guidance, crime reduction strategies, management accountability policies and security management practices.
Since establishing Giuliani Partners, Mayor Giuliani has made several trips to Japan. On his visits, Mayor Giuliani recognized a growing demand for security consulting services similar to those more frequently offered in the United States. This demand stemmed primarily from a heightened awareness among Japanese people of the need to protect themselves against both natural and manmade disasters. Understanding the important roles that preparedness and planning play in security and safety, Mayor Giuliani founded Giuliani Security & Safety Asia (GSSA) to help organizations make their environments as safe and secure as possible. In the months and years to come, GSSA will apply its experience and expertise in both Tokyo and New York to help Japanese corporations and other organizations minimize risk. In addition to the international expertise derived from the Giuliani organization, GSSA will develop partnerships with specialized members of the security and safety industry in Japan who are willing and able to support our vision and mission.
